According to the Kent County Sheriff’s Office, a woman named Karissah Marie Kleynenberg, age 21, and two young children named Juliana, 3, and Natalie, 18 months, died in a two-vehicle collision on Thursday night after one of the vehicles hydroplaned on water.

Hydroplane crash: What happened?
On Friday, August 25, near Harvard Ave., a crash occurred about 8:11 p.m.
A Mitsubishi Eclipse allegedly lost control, veered off the road, and collided with an Audi SUV, according to the Kent County Sheriff’s Office.
Danny, the driver of the Mitsubishi, a 22-year-old Gowen male, was rushed to a nearby hospital to receive treatment for serious wounds.
Karissah Marie Kleynenberg, a Gowen woman in her twenties who was riding in the front seat, was declared dead.
Natalie, a 1-year-old girl, and Juliana, a 3-year-old girl who were in the back of the car, were both pronounced dead at the scene, according to the sheriff’s office, despite first responders’ best attempts.
The Audi’s 42-year-old Sparta driver was brought to a nearby hospital to be treated for minor wounds.
The KCSO Traffic Safety Unit is still looking into the incident to see whether there were any other contributing factors, such as rain, speed, or alcohol.

Juliana was overjoyed to have recently learned biking. She played in the dirt till she was covered head to toe, so she enjoyed being outside. Both blowing bubbles and enjoying frozen waffles were Natalie’s particular favorites.
Karissah was a wonderful person who put forth a lot of effort to achieve her objectives. She began working at the Popeyes in Greenville as a cashier and eventually advanced to Assistant Manager. Many people, including her mother and sister as well as a large number of other family members and friends, will miss her.
Condolences have come in from all around the neighborhood as a result of the news of Karissa and the two young girls’ passing, which has naturally crushed their family and friends. On social media during this difficult period, many individuals have sympathized and offered support.
