Montgomery reportedly posted on social media that his tour bus was involved in a “severe accident” on Friday, Sept. 9, while traveling to a performance in the Tar Heel State. According to Tennessee Highway Patrol, the 57-year-old musician was a passenger in a 2001 Prevost Featherlite tour bus when it “veered off the interstate just south of Jellico, struck an embankment, and crashed,” according to WATE.
The country music icon from the 1990s informed followers of the sad news on Facebook on Saturday (Sept. 10). Montgomery wrote, “Yesterday we had a major accident on the way to a concert in North Carolina.” The “I Swear” singer continued by saying that he, as well as any band or crew members, is recovering from the incident.
He said, “Everyone that was on the bus is recovering from their injuries,” before disclosing that he had suffered “cuts and broken ribs” as a result of the collision. Montgomery emphasized, “I am doing okay despite minor scrapes and damaged ribs.
Then he informed the crowd that he would be taking a break to rest, but he did not say when he would resume touring. I’ll take a break over the upcoming weeks to recover and will go back on the road soon. Montgomery expressed his gratitude for the fans’ concerns and for the first responders who responded to the incident.
He wrote, “I am thankful to the medics and highway patrol for their prompt response to this challenging scenario. There have been no further crash-related revelations.
