According to The Athletic, the contract is for five years and is for $70 million. Williams ranks eighth among NFL safeties in terms of average yearly compensation at $14 million.

Williams, 26, received his second large payout in as many offseasons after the Saints signed him to a franchise tag for $10.6 million for the 2021 season. His performance last year deservedly earned him additional money.

With 15 interceptions in his first five seasons, Williams has regularly been aggressive in producing takeaways in the deep secondary. He also has 38 pass defenses. Williams, a second-round choice in the 2017 NFL Draft, has been a key component of the Saints’ recent turnaround.

Williams is perhaps most known for his failed tackle on Vikings’ Stefon Diggs, which resulted in the “Minneapolis Miracle” during the NFC Divisional playoffs in 2017. However, Williams should be remembered for being one of the league’s best safeties.
