Who is TakeOff?

TakeOff’s real name is Kirshnik Khari Ball. TakeOff, the third rapper in the group Migos, along with Quavo and Offset, is a 28-year-old rapper. In 1994, TakeOff was conceived in Lawrenceville, Georgia.

In 2008, he started rapping alongside Quavo and Offset, who were his uncle and cousin, as the group Polo Club. The group’s debut mixtape as Migos, Juug Season, was released in 2011.

“Growing up, I was trying to make it in music. I was grinding, which is just what I loved doing,” TakeOff told The Fader in 2017. “Just making something and creating for me. I was getting pleasure out of it because it’s what I liked doing. I’d wait for Quavo to get back from football practice and I’d play my songs for him.” Versace, the group Migos’ first widely popular track, was released in 2013.

The song is significant for popularising the triplet flow, Migos’ trademark rapid-fire cadence, in modern rap. Drake, a Toronto rapper, later remixed the song and would later have a close relationship with all three of the group’s members.

The 2016 Lil Uzi Vert-produced song Bad and Boujee is what made Migos famous. Other Top 10 songs by the group include MotorSport with Nicki Minaj and Cardi B and Walk It Talk It with Drake.

TakeOff has one album out as a solo artist (2018’s The Last Rocket, which debuted at No. 4 in the US) and one record out as a duo (only Built for Infinity Links, released last month) alongside Quavo.
