Who was Steven Ncanana?

Ncanana, 36, along with Sthembiso Ngcobo, Dominic Mateba, Stanton Lewis, and Siyabulela Songwiqi were all signed by Chiefs before the 2010–11 season by then-coach Vladimir Vermezovic.

Ncanana won the trophy during his rookie campaign as the Chiefs defeated their archrival Orlando Pirates 3-0 at FNB Stadium in the Telkom Knockout final.

He was also a member of the Chiefs during the 2011–12 season when they lost the MTN8 final against Pirates, who took revenge at FNB Stadium by winning 1-0. Ncanana was once more left off the team because coach VV preferred Reneilwe Letsholonyane and Tinashe Nengomasha. Although he struggled to find playing time, he did manage to score one goal in a 2-2 draw with Bloemfontein Celtic in January 2011.

Before he scored, the Chiefs were behind 2-0. Knowledge Musona then finished the comeback in the final minute to save a point.

Ncanana scored just once in 12 league games for the Glamour Boys before being fired at the end of the year. In the 2015–16 season, he went back to Thanda Royal Zulu, where the Chiefs had originally signed him.

He was a member of the AmaBhubesi team led by the late Roger Sikhakhane that won the Motsepe Foundation Championship the following year. But before the 2017–18 season began, that status was sold to AmaZulu, leaving Ncanana without a club.

Since he did not participate in a single game throughout the winning season, Leonard said, “At Thanda, it is when he sustained a serious injury and then stayed at home attempting to heal, but it didn’t.” He was bothered by an injury, and that marked the start of his career’s demise.

Steven Ncanana disclosed to the Amakhosi website about him

Steven Ncanana revealed to the Amakhosi website in 2011 that he was born in the KwaZulu Natal town of Mtubatuba.

Although Steven is a quiet person who avoids conversation, he has a decent heart.

I place a high value on my family, but I also give my full attention to my career with Kaizer Chiefs.

“As a player, I prefer to keep things straightforward, but I generally play by the coach’s rules on the field of play.

I am a team player. As for my weaknesses, I can only state that I am working on them throughout practice with assistance from the Technical Team.
