Her father claims that she was one of every 1,000 cases in which the flu compromised her immune system to the point where her organs were assaulted.

Raeann always had a bright smile on her face and was so upbeat.
Even though we are powerless to stop this tragedy from affecting Dawn and her family, we can band together to help them through this excruciating time.

He urged parents to seek medical attention right away if their child has a fever or respiratory issues.
Students in the Wyoming Valley will wear yellow to school on Monday in Raeann’s honor to remember the “Rae of Sunshine” she brought with her.

Raeann Merlino, a 10-year-old from West Pittston, is mourned by a number of Wyoming Valley communities.
Our Pittston Area family is devastated to learn the passing of 5th grade Wyoming Area student, Raeann Merlino.
Her father is Jamie Merlino, the chief of the Hughestown Hose company and a member of the Pittston Ambulance service.
