Keith’s Racing Career

Keith farmer decided to join the PR Racing squad and race the iForce Lloyd and Jones BMW in the British Superbike class after a difficult Silverstone weekend.

Farmer revealed that he had planned to stop racing at the end of the current campaign, but after two mishaps at Silverstone, he changed his mind.

Championship

The 34-year-old won both the Superstock 600 and the Superstock 1000 in 2011. By winning the 2017 British Supersport Championship and the 2018 Northern Ireland TAS Racing Team Superstock 1000 Championship, Farmer afterward showed his versatility.

Farmer, who competed for some of the top teams in the paddock, looked back on his career and expressed gratitude for his four British championships. For the past ten years that I’ve been in the BSB paddock, I’ve competed for some of the top teams and had a tonne of opportunities, some of which have led to success. In 1965, Keith relocated to Branson to pursue a career in the local music business. He developed a considerable amount of renown in the Branson region as a result of the work he conducted as a plumber.

He was constantly there to lend a helping hand to those in need. He was a fantastic parent who treasured the time he got to spend with his kids and grandkids and who took great pride in his offspring’s successes.

Keith packed up everything he owned and moved from Branson to Lake Tapawingo when he decided to make a change in his life.
This change happened about five years ago. The day before Keith passed away, his parents, sister Madge Owen, and wife of 14 years, Beverly Joan Farmer, had all moved out of state. Beverly Joan was also his wife for the entirety of his life. I pray for his soul’s peace.

Keith’s announcement of Immediate retirement from racing (Sep 2021)

Keith Farmer, a four-time Supersport and Superstock champion, has declared his immediate retirement from racing.

The County Tyrone rider had a difficult year because his previous Superstock team went out of business. He had planned to finish the season with the iForce Lloyd and Jones BMW team, but after a string of crashes at Silverstone over the weekend, he decided to call it quits.

The 34-year-old has always planned to retire at the end of the 2021 season. He exits the sport after a fruitful ten years, thriving on the asphalt just like he had in Supermoto previously.

Farmer remarked, “I’ve had a terrible year, but that’s just racing. “I came in to finish the season for PR Racing BMW, but after two quite significant collisions, the first of which resulted in the death of Takumi Takahashi, for which I am sad, and the second of which saw me shatter to pieces, I have decided it is time to stand down.

Even though it’s never easy to up and leave, I had always intended to stop competing in motorsports after this year. The “Clogher Bullet” won the Superstock 600 championship in 2011 with his team, which caught the eye of BSB team owner Paul Bird. Bird offered his backing for Farmer’s transition to the Superstock 1000 category the following year, in 2012.

Five victories on the Rapid Solicitors Kawasaki enabled Farmer to repay the confidence shown in him and further display his talent as he defeated Jason O’Halloran’s official Honda entry by a commanding 50 points.

Four-time British champion’s retirement

Following a promotion to Bird’s BSB squad in 2013, the two parted ways two-thirds of the way through the season, with Farmer being replaced by Noriyuki Haga. Despite displaying some signs of form—fourth at Knockhill being the highlight—they split up.

He changed teams for 2014 and, despite a lack of results, it was this year that he earned his lone BSB podium—a third-place finish at Brands Hatch behind Josh Waters and Richard Cooper.

After winning the British Supersport Championship in 2017, Farmer further showed his adaptability by filling in for the injured Luke Jones at Appleyard Macadam Yamaha.

He finished the season with nine victories, earning him a ride with the TAS Racing team from Northern Ireland in 2018. Farmer competed in the Superstock 1000 series once again and won his second championship in the division, this time while driving a BMW S1000RR.

He stayed with the team in 2019 and made a comeback to the BSB series, but after recording six top-ten finishes in the first four races, he crashed in Knockhill qualifying and suffered two fractured legs, which put an agonizing end to his season. Farmer lined up with Buildbase Suzuki after regaining his fitness for the postponed 2020 season, but misfortune struck him once more when he crashed in qualifying at the first race at Donington Park, severely debilitating his season.

Farmer, who is currently based in Penrith, reflected on his trophy-laden career and said he feels really happy to have captured four British titles despite competing for some of the best teams in the paddock. “I’ve enjoyed 10 successful years of racing in the BSB paddock, representing some of the top teams with fantastic prospects; some of them worked, and some of them didn’t.

I consider myself incredibly fortunate to have been given these chances, and I have utilized them to win four British crowns.

“I would like to express my gratitude to everyone who has ever helped me in any manner, especially my family, who has supported me through both good and terrible times. Without any of you people, I could not have completed this.

  1. The computer that farmed this article got confused. Keith was a rad dude but I don’t think he was in the US Air Force from 1954 to 1958.
