Moger, the Franciscans, the priests, deacons, religious & lay faithful mourn the passing of dear Fr. Jeremy Davies who died today, November 5th 2022. Fr. Jeremy had a gentle, prayerful & beautiful passing into Eternal Mysteries.”

Jeremy Davies who died in the early hours of this morning, Saturday, November 5th, 2022. Fr. Jeremy had a peaceful, gentle, prayerful, and beautiful passing into Eternal Mysteries.

We had the joy of having Fr. Jeremy at Our Lady’s Shrine and in Walsingham during the last two years of his life. He touched many hearts with his priestly witness of prayer and faithfulness.
Fr. Jeremy was a priest of the Diocese of Westminster, and we give you the announcement sent out by Mgr. Martin Hayes some hours ago.

With sadness, I write with news of the death early today, 5 November, of Fr Jeremy Ponsonby Meredith Davies. Fr Jeremy died peacefully in the home provided for him in Fakenham, Norfolk.

Fr Jeremy was born in London on 25 March 1935 and ordained to the priesthood for the Diocese of Westminster in Rome on 15 April 1974.

Sympathy is extended to Fr Jeremy’s family and friends, to the clergy and parishioners of his former parishes in the Diocese and beyond, and to those among whom he exercised specialized ministry.

Details of funeral arrangements, and an obituary, will follow in due course.

Father Jeremy Davies was born in London on March 25, 1935. He is a former doctor and English Roman Catholic priest. He co-founded the International Association of Exorcists and is a well-known exorcist.

On April 15, 1974, in Rome, Fr. Jeremy was ordained to the priesthood for the Diocese of Westminster. Davies attended St Edmund Hall in Oxford to study English literature and St Bartholomew’s Hospital in London to study medicine.

In 1967, after earning his medical degree, he began working in mission hospitals in Ghana, Nigeria, and Guyana.

  1. Would you please correct the stated cause of death on this article. Fr Jeremy died of cancer, having suffered from the condition with patience and quiet courage for nearly 18 months, in the course of which he underwent surgery which was, sadly, only partially successful. Also, his place of death was not his home, but that of a close friend of many years who cared for him with love and devotion, supported by close friends, from Walsingham, and other friends of many years.
