What happened to El-Sharkawy?
Dr. Muhammad Salah’s official FaceBook page announced the Ahmed El-Sharkawy death news the statement reads,
After an absence of three days from the Faculty of Medicine, Al-Azhar University, Assiut branch, his colleagues went to his residence in the second section, and they found his door closed, so they informed the police, who opened the door by force, to find him prostrating and he had passed away.
Ahmed El-Sharkawy, is a sixth-year student at the Faculty of Human Medicine, at Al-Azhar University.
He passed away a few days ago while he was in a prostration position on the prayer rug.

The university known as Al-Azhar (/zhr/ AHZ-har; Arabic: (), IPA: [aemet elzh eif], “the University of (the honorable) Al-Azhar”) was founded in 970 in Cairo, Egypt is a public university. It is known as the most distinguished institution for Islamic studies and is affiliated with Al-Azhar Al-Sharif in Islamic Cairo. It is also the oldest institution of higher learning in Egypt that awards degrees.
Al-Azhar is in charge of a national network of schools with about two million students in addition to higher education. Over 4,000 educational institutions in Egypt were connected to the university as of 1996.
The Fatimid Caliphate established this center of Islamic learning around 970 or 972. Its pupils studied the Qur’an and Islamic law in-depth, as well as logic, grammar, rhetoric, and how to calculate the moon phases.
It is now the world’s foremost center for the study of Arabic and Islam. Non-religious disciplines were added to its curriculum in 1961. Only the Egyptian National Library and Archives are thought to be more significant than its library in Egypt.

Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum project to preserve Al Azhar scripts and publish them online (the “Azhar Online Project”) was launched in May 2005 by Al-Azhar in collaboration with a Dubai information technology company, IT Education Project (ITEP), to eventually publish online access to the library’s entire rare manuscripts collection, which consists of about seven million pages of content.
