Zayn Malik and Gigi Hadid have decided to part ways.
Exclusively for PEOPLE, many sources confirm that the singer, 28, and supermodel, 26, have split up.
A friend of the Hadid family claims, “They are not together right now, but they are both terrific parents.” They co-parent, and Yolanda naturally takes great care to protect Gigi. She genuinely cares about her daughter and grandchild.
In a statement to PEOPLE, Gigi’s agent said that the actress “asks for privacy during this time” since she is “solely focused on what is best for Khai.” Multiple efforts for comment from Yolanda and Malik’s representatives have gone unanswered.
Following a TMZ claim that Gigi’s mother Yolanda was considering reporting Malik to the police for assaulting her, according to anonymous sources, Malik issued a statement earlier on Thursday. According to Malik, Yolanda’s “false allegations” that he struck her are untrue, and he “adamantly” denies them.
Malik said the incident “was and still should be a private matter” in a statement posted on Twitter, adding that he intended to create “a place where private family matters aren’t thrust on the international stage for all to poke and pick apart.”
Malik’s social media statement had a reference to Yolanda, according to several individuals who spoke with PEOPLE.

Gigi’s representative issued a statement to PEOPLE saying, “Gigi is totally focused on what is best for Khai. She requests for privacy during this time.”
At the moment, Malik allegedly “grabbed and threw her against a dresser, causing mental anguish and physical injury,” according to court documents obtained by PEOPLE.

Malik “adamantly” denied hitting her, but added in a statement to TMZ: “I hope Yolanda will reconsider her false charges and work to resolve these family issues in private.
Malik, who chose not to challenge the accusations, was sentenced to serve 90 days of probation for each of the four offences, as well as to complete a domestic violence programme and an anger management class. He was also prohibited from contacting Yolanda during this time.

The PA news agency was able to get court documents that show Zayn allegedly cursed at Yolanda and “grabbed and slammed” her into a dresser. Later, the musician entered a plea of not guilty to four counts of harassment.
