According to a press release issued by Halifax police on Monday morning, the incident happened at around 9:40 p.m. on Sunday on the waterfront boardwalk close to the 1500 block of Lower Water Street.
Officers stated that the victim was taken to the hospital with injuries that were deemed to be life-threatening. Police stated the 26-year-old man died as a result of his injuries in a Monday night update.
A revised statement on Monday read: “At this time, police are not in a position to release the victim’s name.” Additionally, the investigation was in its early stages.

On the boardwalk, police discovered Rodney Vance who was not breathing. Develle Rodney Vance was sent to the hospital with injuries that are thought to be life-threatening. After, life-threatening injuries he was pronounced dead.

Police issue update on last night’s aggravated assault in Halifax
We are saddened to report that the 26-year-old victim of last night’s aggravated assault has died. Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones.

On August 6 at approximately 9:40 p.m., police received a report of a disturbance that had occurred on the Halifax waterfront in the area of the 1500 block of Lower Water Street.
Officers located an unresponsive man on the boardwalk. The victim was transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries. The investigation is in its early stages. A further update will be provided when available.
