For the global automobile community, today is one of the saddest days. Koruwork LLC’s Atlanta, Georgia, founder, Tyler Clayton passed away unexpectedly.

The Atlanta community has suffered a great loss. No matter what he was going through, Tyler Clayton treated everyone with such respect and has always been a big brother in the neighbourhood.

He never compromised on anything, constructed some of the greatest cars, and was an amazing JDM encyclopedia. Keep reading to know more about Tyler Clayton and his cause of death in detail.

Who was Tyler Clayton?

Tyler Clayton, the sole founder, and owner of Koru Works, established the company in 2010. Before his successful venture as the proprietor of Koru Works, he was better known as the “Revel,” an Atlanta-based graffiti artist.

He contacted Gregg Bucell, a drifting friend and business partner, in 2010 to launch the vehicle customization company. Clayton chose the Japanese name “Koru” for the company because the shop specializes in the Japanese-made Nissan 240 SX. Koru means “to be absorbed in, to be devoted to, to be a fanatic about.”

Tyler Clayton was a seasoned owner with a track record of success in the auto sector. He had expertise in painting, drifting, sales, and photography. He was a skilled business development specialist with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) from Atlanta College of Art with an emphasis in video art.

Gregg Bucell has been a part of the journey from the beginning, handling the shop’s sales and marketing requirements as well as managing and spotting the KoruWorks race crew on the track. He and Tyler, longtime friends, eventually came up with a strategy to turn their passion for cars into a career.

The type of ambience Tyler had envisioned was created by having a garage and a group of friends with whom to work on cars, but Tyler wanted to make it more of a business than just a place to hang out. His displeasure at the absence of readily available aero and essential drift suspension parts from local shops, as well as those JDM bits and pieces that everyone likes but finds difficult to locate, could be alleviated if the shop actually became a “shop.”

Complete engine builds, thorough race preparation, and fabrication are among the services offered by KoruWorks, which is still actively participating in Formula Drift. They work in a small shop, and most of what they do requires meticulous attention to detail.

With the next opportunity not until April 2023, Gregg estimates that they take on about 10 customer builds each year, which suggests that the amount of complete constructions they accept is fairly conservative. Their portfolio is stacked with Formula Drift championship-winning vehicles as well as builds for prominent local figures like Killer Mike and Rutledge Wood.
