“With a heavy heart we are announcing the passing of our father, our best friend, our super hero, Craig Chamberlin on the evening of April 30th, 2023.
It was unforeseeable and we as a family are still in shock. Us three daughters, Courtney, Makenzie and Carlee are left with the responsibilities of taking care of his funeral and we are hoping to be able to celebrate him and honor his life with a proper burial.
He was known and loved by so many and this is just as devastating and shocking to you all as it is to us.
Thank you for all the love and support, we need it.”

Who was Craig Chamberlin?
In the Spokane Valley, Craig Chamberlin was born and raised. He graduated from University High School in 1988 and went on a football scholarship to the University of Puget Sound.
After receiving his BA in Economics, he entered the Okanogan County Sheriff’s Office a few years later. Following three years with OCSO, he made a lateral transfer to the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office, where he actively engaged the public and carried out outreach through his ‘Ask Deputy Craig’ segments on the news.
In February of last year, Chamberlin, who spent 23 years working for SCSO, declared his intention to run for sheriff. For approximately twenty years, Chamberlin worked for the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office. Throughout his tenure with the Sheriff’s Office, he participated in numerous TV interviews.
In 2022, he decided to run for sheriff but withdrew due to criticism. Following an investigation into Chamberlin’s behavior, the former sheriff Ozzie Knezovich fired him. Chamberlin asserted that his intention to run for sheriff was connected to the firing’s political motivation.
After serving as a deputy for 25 years, Chamberlin decided to explore a different career route and was employed by SERVPRO of Spokane County, a company that handles the repair of damage brought on by fire, water, and mould.
