According to detectives, the death of a teenage girl who was discovered dead and gravely damaged in a park is being regarded as murder. Following reports of a girl suffering significant injuries, police were called to Culcheth Linear Park in Warrington just before 3:15 p.m. yesterday (Saturday).
Brianna Ghey has been identified as the 16-year-old girl who was fatally stabbed in a park in Warrington. On Saturday at 3:13 PM, after Brianna’s body was discovered on a walkway, emergency personnel were dispatched to Linear Park in Culcheth.
Tragically, the Warrington resident, a teenager from the Birchwood neighborhood, was declared dead at the scene.

Suspects:
Police are now looking for a man and a woman seen in the area where Brianna was discovered and have opened a murder investigation. Both of them are characterized as white, in their late teens or early twenties, and as having wavy dark hair. The woman had an unique red or purple black checked blanket-style coat, according to the police, while the man was wearing a longish, dark hooded coat. She also wore a long, flowing dress, skirt, or pair of pants.
The Ministry of Justice has dispelled rumors that an escaped prisoner was responsible for the tragedy, and police are advising the public not to make assumptions.
After Brianna sustained numerous stab wounds, a post-mortem examination is currently being conducted by the Home Office to determine the cause of death. Specialist officers are currently assisting Brianna’s family.
Detective Chief Supt Mike Evans said,
“This is a truly awful attack on a 16-year-old girl, who has sadly lost her very short life. We are appealing for any information that will help us find who has done this to Brianna.”
“I would like to reassure the local community that we are working hard to find those responsible for Brianna’s death and we have extra officers in and around Culcheth supporting the investigation. We also have officers supporting Brianna’s family at this really tragic time.”
