How did Angie Mayhew die?

The wife of famous Chewbacca actor Peter Mayhew, passed away suddenly. She managed Peter Mayhew Foundation.

Al’s Star Wars Collection announced this sad news on social media posts. The statement reads,

“Sad News to report the wife of the late Peter Mayhew has passed away. You were always a very loving and supportive wife to the Mighty Wookiee Chewbacca. You will be missed. Condolences to the Mayhew family.”

Many people started to pay their tribute to her as soon as the death news broke out. Mellisa posted a tribute to her, saying,

“My heart breaks. She was such an amazing woman and went on to continue the work that Peter Mayhew – The Wookiee Roars started so many years ago. They helped so many people. We could.never ever repay them for their help, love and compassion to so many of us.

Rest Easy Angie…you are one with the force and reunited with your precious husband, Peter! Give him a hug for us. We miss you both! Oh and give Carrie a hug as well. Take care of them Angie!” 

Who was Angie Mayhew?

Angie Mayhew was Chewbacca’s (the Mighty Wookiee’s) partner, and she was very loving and supportive. Angelique Luker was her real name. 

Peter Mayhew wed Mary Angelique “Angie” Luker (previously Cigainero), a Texan, in the summer of 1999. They lived in Boyd, Texas. After Mary married, Peter took on the role of a parent to her three children. 

After the death of Peter in 2019, she managed the Peter Mayhew Foundation. Mayhew received his oath of citizenship during an event in Arlington, Texas, in 2005. 

Angie kept up her tireless work with the Foundation after Peter passed away in 2019, and she did everything she could to support Star Wars, its community, and its supporters.

The Foundation still supports organisations today and improves the lives of countless people. We learned of Angie’s death and are incredibly saddened.

The late Peter Mayhew’s wife, passed away on April 2, 2023. She looked out The Wookiee Roars after Peter.

It is with great sadness that we share that Angie Mayhew the great Mallatobuck to her late husband Peter Mayhew aka Chewbacca, has passed into the forest in the skies.

Tributes flooded social media after the demise news of Angie broke out.

About Peter Mayhew:

Peter was a British-American actor, who was best known for portraying Chewbacca in the Star Wars film series.

Peter made light of the closing scene of “Star Wars,” in which Luke Skywalker and Han Solo receive medals but Chewbacca does not, in an interview with the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, in which he also claimed not to have received one.

Mayhew noted in an MTV interview that Chewbacca does have the concluding line of dialogue when he roars even though he doesn’t get a medal in the movie.

Peter endured double knee replacement surgery in 2013 after two years of nonstop wheelchair use, but he was still very reliant on it during The Force Awakens filming. Without providing any additional information, Mayhew tweeted in July 2018 that he had endured spinal surgery to improve his mobility.

Three weeks before turning 75, Mayhew died away on April 30, 2019, at his Boyd, Texas, home. He had a cardiac attack. He was laid in Azleland Memorial Park and Mausoleum in Reno, Parker County, Texas.
