A tow truck crossing a red light on Friant & Shepard road killed a woman in the middle of intersection.
Amaya Chenot, a 22-year-old Fresno native, has been identified as the woman who was killed by a tow truck on Wednesday morning.
The crash happened on Wednesday just before one in the morning at the intersection of Friant Road and Shepherd Avenue.
According to Fresno police reports, a tow truck was traveling north on Friant when it ran a red light and collided with a car turning left at the time.
Chenot, the car’s driver, was pinned inside and had to be rescued. She was declared deceased at the scene of the collision. The driver of the tow truck was unharmed in any manner.

The video shows the tow truck crossing the intersection on a Red light and colliding with the Amaya’s car.
Daniel Wells, the house owner alleges that the large frequency of collisions in the region motivated him and his son to install the camera. Daniel Wells lives right behind the junction and he says, “Almost weekly, there’s always red light runners”.
Criminal charges have not yet been filed against the person driving the tow truck. It was believed that he will be charged with vehicular homicide pending the outcome of their investigation.

A tow truck driver in northeast Fresno ran a red light early on Wednesday morning and struck Amaya’s car, killing her instantly.
Around 1:00 a.m., EMS and the Fresno Police Department responded to the collision near Shephard Avenue and Friant Road.
The video shows that the tow truck jumps a red light and hits the woman’s car, pushing it over the median and into the opposing lane.
