DJ FreddyG aka Freddy Greene dies after a long battle with cancer

DJ FreddyG, also known as Freddy Greene, passed away from cancer a few days ago. His battle with cancer is over as of right now. The idea for “Digital Visions Re-edits” came from him.

His contributions to the DJ and music businesses were tremendous, and he was a nice man. Though his battle with cancer ended tragically, his musical legacy will live on through his timeless hits. Here is everything we currently know about him and the passing of DJ FreddyG.

DJ FreddyG aka Freddy Greene died

After a protracted battle with urothelial carcinoma, Freddy Greene, better known as DJ Freddy G and the originator of Digital Visions Remixes, passed away this morning. Freddy is survived by his wife Linda Greene.

His wife Lind Greene announced the demise news of her beloved husband by posting the following message on his Gofundme page,

By Linda Greene

With a very heavy heart, I must tell everyone that my husband lost a very long, painful, and courageous fight with Cancer on Monday morning. We both want to thank you all for your generous donations, support, love, and prayers over the last few months.

All the funds that we have received will go towards many medical bills, previous treatments, Hospital bills, and whatever may come up in the next few months. I hope that I am still able to generate more funds to be able to pay down some of this astronomical debt and be able to survive.

If you cannot donate, please share this link! We appreciate everyone’s support, Love, and prayers at an extremely difficult time. God Bless!

Visit the “Go Fund Me” page for his family to contribute; anything you can do to help would be greatly appreciated.

Urothelial carcinoma is a type of cancer that develops in the urinary tract. About 90% of bladder cancers and 7% of kidney cancers are caused by urothelial carcinoma. Similar symptoms can be seen in urothelial carcinomas of the bladder and kidney. They both have similar prognoses in that they are easily treatable when discovered early on but frequently recur.

DJ FreddyG’s Cancer Journey

Linda said that her husband Fred has been diagnosed with Stage 4 Urothelial Carcinoma which has spread to his one remaining kidney, lymph nodes, and to both lungs.

He fought courageously through all the treatments and has always maintained a positive outlook throughout this journey and is determined to continue this fight to try and live his life to the fullest.

Unfortunately, the results of his latest scans were not what we had hoped they would be. The chemo did not work as well as we needed it to. There was actually some progression. Now the plan is to start a different treatment of immunotherapy in another week. He still has a long road ahead of him and prognosis still remains uncertain.

Further, she stated, My husband’s biggest concern is me being able to survive without him. My husband is one of the most kindest and selfless people I have ever known.

He simply is the very best husband and Dad to our beloved pets. He has always done everything he could to take care of me since day one. I need to do everything in my power to help ease the burden we are facing so we can focus more on his health, possible recovery, and gaining some quality time for however long that may be.

Moreover, she kindly requests people to keep Fred and our family in their thoughts and prayers. The road to recovery will be challenging and your moral support will provide us with the strength and courage we need to face each obstacle head-on. With heartfelt gratitude, Fred and Linda Greene.

Freddy about his Digital Visions

I could ask one of my longtime friends to say some flattering words about me OR I could write about myself in the Third Person….but why when I’m perfectly capable of exaggerating my story all by myself…LOL

In the very early 80’s I was a young DJ padewan who under the tutelege of my best friend, DJ Master Gil “DJ Pooch” Aponte, Then I learned the art of mixing real vinyl records. It was a long and painful process, but all the hard work paid off when I started taking on private gigs of all kinds.

It wasn’t long before I was working as the headline DJ at the largest roller rink in the area, Upskate NY. From there I moved into the Night Club circuit, where I quickly became one of the best-known and most respected Club Jocks in the area.

I “retired” back in the mid-90s from the club circuit which led me to produce mixes for fitness instructors throughout the Tri-State area. It was enjoyable but nowhere near the exhilaration of playing before hundreds and even thousands of people.

I was a technician with my sights clearly set on making every mix perfect. That desire for perfection led me right into remixing and editing…..which has led me here.

  1. My sincerest condolences on losing Freddy. We met over the internet as I’m from Chicago and also a DJ. I can’t tell you enough how talented he is at his art of remixing and perfection for what he did. I reached out to him and he responded right away, a true gentlemen. We did speak over the phone and i continued to reach out to him via email during his battle. He also gave me the opportunity to put a mix together using his edits and played it on his you tube show he aired. I am forever grateful to him for that. Linda, i am very sorry for the loss of your husband, friend, other half. He touched so many people in so many different ways that you may not know about, and for that i thank you for sharing him with us all. A big hug to you and know that he is a legend in so many different ways. God bless you and i have you in my prayers.
