A police strike force has been formed after the body of a missing man was discovered in the NSW Hunter Valley. Read on to know more about John Simpson’s death:
John Simpson missing:
John Simpson, 42, was last seen traveling on the Great North Road in Laguna on April 13, after his car broke down on his way home.
“Police and family hold serious concerns for his welfare as his disappearance is out of character,” NSW Police said, when he went missing.
After a month long manhunt for the Laguna man, the Police reported that the body of the missing man was finally found.
Police claim that his body was discovered during a search that was conducted in the small rural town on Tuesday by officers working with volunteers from the State Emergency Service and the Dog Unit.
An autopsy will be performed to confirm the deceased’s identity and the cause of death.
What happened to John Simpson?
On Thursday, April 13, the 42-year-old, John Simpson from Hunter Region NSW was last seen driving on Great North Road in Laguna. His car was broken down on his way home and he was reported missing.
Police from the Hunter Valley Police District started looking for him when they couldn’t reach him or find him anywhere. Police searched him on foot along Great North, Watagan Creek, and Milsons Arm Roads earlier this week.
The body was discovered on Tuesday, May 16, in Laguna, close to Wollombi, as a result of a request for information about the disappearance of John Simpson.
Strike Force Blakely has been set up by detectives from the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad and Missing Persons Registry to look into the circumstances of the death. The police say investigations are still going on.
