How did Vincent Parks die?

According to a department Facebook post, Parks joined the Jonesboro Police Department on June 15. He had finished a number of weeks of internal training.

He and other recruiting officers started their course work at the Central Arkansas Law Enforcement Training Academy at Camp Robinson in North Little Rock after finishing several weeks of the training program, according to the police.

The Jonesboro Police Department posted the following on Facebook:

“It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of one of our own. We are asking our community to keep his family in your thoughts and prayers as they mourn the loss of their loved one and we mourn the loss of our Brother in Blue.”

At around 1 p.m., Jonesboro resident Vincent Parks, 38, began “exhibiting symptoms of intense pain” upon entering the Central Arkansas Law Enforcement Training Academy. According to the statement, Sunday.

According to the press statement, instructors moved Parks from the group before the scheduled 1:30 exercise session. He was instructed to lay on a table while receiving oxygen.

According to the press statement, Parks walked to an ambulance but suffered a heart attack once inside. He subsequently passed away at a hospital in North Little Rock.

Jami Cook, the director of the Commission of Arkansas Law Enforcement Standards and Training and secretary of the Arkansas Department of Public Safety, stated in a statement that “it seems unjust that a man like Officer Parks, who was willing to sacrifice for his community, be taken from his calling.”

Cook continued, “While we are devastated and grieve for him, his family, and his fellow officers, we also know that his life was not in vain because he answered the call.
