Zak Dewhirst dies suddenly, Former Halifax Panthers player passed away aged 34, cause of death and obituary

Zak Dewhirst, a rugby player for the Halifax Panthers and King Cross Park, has received numerous tributes. A well-known and adored Halifax rugby player and coach who passed away unexpectedly is receiving heartbroken condolences.
Zak Dewhirst is the current head coach of the organization’s wheelchair rugby league squad and a former reserve player for the Halifax Panthers.

King Cross Park RLFC announced the passing news of Zak Dewhirst on their official Facebook page and the statement reads the following,

This is probably the hardest message anybody would ever want to write. It is with a broken heart that we pass on the news that today the club has been made aware that Zak Dewhirst our beloved friend passed away early this morning.

Zak was like a family member to many people at the club and this news will be devastating to everyone involved at the club and the wider rugby community.

It is therefore with the deepest respect for his family and friends that the speculation and questions surrounding his passing are avoided.

There will be a time to pay respects to this amazing young man and support his family and friends through this devastating period. Once we know more about any funeral arrangements we will let you all know. Rest In Peace.

The Halifax Panthers also declared on social media that they were “devastated” by Zak Dewhirst’s passing.

Halifax Panthers are devastated by the news of the death of Zak Dewhirst A former Fax reserve player, Halifax Wheelchair Rugby League team manager, and popular figure within the local community, he will be sorely missed by everyone.

Zak Dewhirst career

On December 27, 1988, in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Zak Dewhirst was born. He developed a love for rugby at an early age and started participating in games at a nearby rink. He became a brilliant player as he grew older and was soon taken care of by the Halifax Panthers. He had a bright rugby future, and many people thought he would be picked in the upcoming NHL draught.

He played rugby as a child and was soon noticed for his innate aptitude. He had already made a name for himself as one of the top players in the area by the time he was a teenager.

Zak joined the Halifax Panthers, where he immediately established himself as one of their key players, as a result of his perseverance and commitment to the game.

Zak was renowned for his unwavering commitment to the rugby game. He would frequently practice and train for hours every day, pushing himself to become the best player he could be. He was renowned for his good sportsmanship as well, constantly praising his rivals after a match and appreciating his teammates for their assistance.

When he passed away, Zak was the Wheelchair Rugby League team manager for the Halifax Panthers, where he had made a name for himself as one of the team’s top forwards and a fan favorite.

Even though he excelled on the field, Zak was also renowned for his kindness and compassion. He was well renowned for his contagious smile and his willingness to always lend a hand to people in need.

After the sudden passing of Angela Formoy-Varley last week and now Zak Dewhirst, it certainly puts things into perspective.
