Caleb Conley’s Tragic Death
On Monday, a police officer from Kentucky was killed while performing his duties. That deputy has been identified as Deputy Caleb Conley by the Scott County Sheriff’s Office.

Who is Steven Sheangshang?
In a tragic turn of events, Scott County Deputy Caleb Conley’s murder suspect has been identified as the person named the “Wanted Person of the Week” by Lexington police.
According to Maj. Matt LeMonds, the jail’s public relations officer, Sheangshang is also linked to a gunshot and a car theft at Rose & Jims on Georgetown Road in Lexington.
A crime spree including the theft and pawning of lawn equipment had already made the suspect, Steven Sheangshang, a wanted man. He is currently being held on a number of counts, including robbery, assault, and murder of a police officer.
The chain of events started when Lexington police published a surveillance video of Sheangshang taking lawn equipment from an unlocked garage during a recent theft in the Summerfield neighborhood.
He was thereafter the main suspect in several related incidents in the area. Sheangshang was identified by law enforcement through the license plate of the automobile he was operating, and surveillance cameras followed his car to Cincinnati and Covington, where he is said to have pawned some of the stolen goods.
The Fayette County Detention Centre has identified the suspect in the murder of a Scott County officer who was killed on Duty. According to police, Deputy Caleb Conley, 35, was fatally shot during a traffic check on I-75 near milepost 127.
Accusations on Suspect
The accusations Steven Sheangshang, 45, is facing include first-degree murder of a police officer, first-degree running or eluding police, burglary, theft by unlawful taking of an automobile, possession of a weapon by a felon, and more.
Sheangshang is accused of shooting Deputy Conley during a traffic stop on I-75 before fleeing the scene to River Run Court in Georgetown, according to a citation.
According to the citation, he attempted to get a ride by breaking into a house, threatening a resident with a firearm, and coercing him into giving up the keys to his car.
Sheangshang is accused of driving to Lexington in a stolen vehicle after leaving the house. Sheangshang is then accused of shooting a second person at a Georgetown Road residence before robbing the victim of his car at 5:50 p.m. on Monday, according to a citation.
At 6:41 p.m., Sheangshang was taken into custody at a Charles Avenue residence. On Monday, a. 44-magnum pistol was discovered at the residence.
Deputy Conley has worked for the Scott County Sheriff’s Office for four years after spending eight years in the US Army. He leaves a wife and young children in his wake.
The Scott County Sheriff’s Department has lost its first member. The Georgetown Police Department has experienced three deaths in the course of duty throughout Scott County as a whole.
Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear released a statement on Monday night, saying
“Kentucky, please join Britainy and me in praying for the family and fellow law enforcement officers of Scott County Deputy Sheriff Caleb Conley, who was killed this evening while protecting our people. This hero made the ultimate sacrifice, and we will be forever grateful.”
“We appreciate the privacy being shown to his family and ask you to keep them and us all in your prayers. Thank you Deputy Caleb Conley for your service and sacrifice”.
