People Comments

People have been commenting about the incident and the brave act of the Ross County Sgt. Eric Kocheran.

TacticsFanatic wrote,

“The deputy could have let the door close and called for backup while he stayed in cover. But that would have left an unstable man with a gun drawn in public. The deputy also could have started shooting without saying a word to the man. But maybe the man could be talked down.

No, the deputy chose to put his life on the line to try to calm the shooter down while drawing his gun to protect the public if that proved impossible. He chose a path that offered the greatest chance of life to everyone but himself.

You have to respect the courage of this deputy. I hope this does not cost him his life.”

Wolfie1911 wrote,

“The suspect had every opportunity to put the weapon down and he didn’t.”

RindaLynn tweeted,

“Oh my. Too close to home. Prayers to our neighboring county. 🥺🥺🥺”
