25 years of imprisonment for Kelsey Turner

An ex-Playboy model who was detained after a doctor’s body was discovered decaying inside a car accepted an Alford plea and now faces up to 25 years in prison.

Authorities discovered Burchard’s body placed in the trunk of an abandoned automobile on State Route 147 near Lake Mead south of Las Vegas on March 7, 2019. Turner, 28, and her boyfriend, Jon Logan Kennison, 30, were detained in 2019.

When a motorist in southeast Nevada, United States, found the abandoned car and reported to police that a rock had been thrown through the glass, police were informed of the body.

Burchard was found to have been killed by a blunt object after being bludgeoned, according to law enforcement officials.

Jon Kennison, Turner’s ex-boyfriend, was also detained

He admitted guilt to the charges of murder and conspiracy and was given a sentence of 18 to 45 years.

According to the authorities, Burchard and Turner had been friends for roughly two years before the crime, and prosecutors thought they had formerly shared an intimate connection.

The child psychiatrist had been supporting Turner’s $3.2k (£2.75k) rent and costs for almost a year, but suddenly stopped in 2018, leading to Turner’s eviction along with her two kids and her mother.

How was Victim Burchard assaulted?

Burchard was allegedly killed with a baseball bat by Turner and her partner, who then allegedly put his body in the trunk of Turner’s car days before it was discovered.

Before, it was believed that if found guilty of murder, the glamorous defendant would face the death penalty.

Prosecutors ultimately opted against seeking the death penalty, and her trial went forward. The date of her sentencing is anticipated to be January 10, 2023.

Before being imprisoned, Turner posed for magazines like Maxim and Playboy Italia, which helped to catapult her to popularity.

According to police, Burchard, 71, came from California to Las Vegas, where Turner was living at the time, to end their two-year romance. During that time, he reportedly handed Turner an allowance worth an estimated $300,000 to support her lifestyle.

Diana Pena, who shared a room with the couple and pled guilty to being an accessory to murder in 2019, testified that she saw Kennison attack Burchard with a baseball bat in their 7474 Puritan Ave., Las Vegas, home.

According to the Review-Journal, Pena also testified that Turner encouraged Kennison to “knock Thomas out” and that she afterward saw Kennison covered in blood.

Burchard suffered a blunt head injury, according to the authorities. It was determined that he was killed.

Thomas Burchard, a 71-year-old psychiatrist:

According to the Review-Journal, Burchard spent nearly four decades working for Montage Health’s behavioral health program before deciding not to retire at age 65 because he couldn’t bear to part with his patients.

At the time, Montage Health spokesperson Mary Barker noted, “Dr. Burchard was a psychiatrist in our behavioral health department for about 40 years and was very helpful to many patients.

“Our thoughts are with his family, friends, clients, and coworkers at this terrible time.

His patients are being informed, and staff members are receiving grieving support.”
