Strathroy-Caradoc Police Service also shared the devastating news and wrote a tribute on Facebook,

Just before noon, more than a dozen police and OPP cars from Ottawa accompanied a van transporting Mueller’s body from the Ottawa Hospital Civic Campus to the Ottawa Hospital General Campus. The General Campus is where the coroner’s office is situated.

The flags at Rockland City Hall are lowered to half-staff.

OPP said that they will host a news conference at their Ottawa detachment on Thursday at 1 p.m. ET. Since then, the timing has been moved up to 1:30 p.m.

What happened?

According to the OPP, Mueller and two other officers were dispatched to a disturbance at a Bourget residence on Laval Street shortly after two in the morning. Someone claimed to have heard a gunshot. When the cops arrived, someone inside the house shot all three of them, according to OPP.

One of them passed away at an Ottawa hospital after they were admitted. The two other people are recuperating; their health status was not disclosed.

One individual has been detained, according to OPP, and there is no risk to the public. The help comes from Ottawa Police Service officers.

Neighbor’s Statement:

Madison Bach told CBC on Thursday that her boyfriend woke up around 2 a.m. thinking he heard something, but decided it may have been their dog and went back to bed.

Madison Bach’s residence is roughly three doors down from the one where the shooting occurred. While nursing their six-month-old baby at three in the morning, Mrs. Bach noticed the flashing lights of the emergency personnel outside.

She said,

“It’s just really scary that it can happen so close to where you live. Bourget is a very remote community. It’s very quiet, normally, and safe. So the fact that something like this happened so close to our house is really unnerving, especially when we have a daughter who we’re trying to keep safe and protect,”

“It really makes you re-evaluate things. We just moved here about a year ago … hopefully this is just a one-off, but with the rate of crime increasing it’s really scary.”

We need to be there to protect the people who put their lives on the line every day to protect the rest of us. That’s something we continue to look at.”

Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre tweeted: “We mourn with the family of the OPP officer killed in the line of duty early this morning, and pray for the other two officers who were shot and are currently in hospital. Most of us will never know the risk police officers take every single day when they say goodbye to their families and go to work. We must never take their sacrifice for granted.”

Clarence-Rockland Mayor Mario Zanth said he was “saddened and dismayed” to hear of the tragic shooting in Bourget.

Zanth wrote :”There are no words that can express the pain that the residents of the City of Clarence-Rockland are feeling at this time.
