In January 2020, Kaylene Oehling, a twenty-year-old from Etna, disappeared mysteriously. Her family says they’re disgusted with the investigation and need assistance as the anniversary of her abduction approaches.

Oehling’s Remains found 2 Years After Her Disappearance

Three days after her last sight, on January 12, Oehling’s mother reported her missing. According to the police, she was at a friend’s house in Millvale on the evening of January 9 before leaving to meet someone. Although her return was anticipated, she never did.

Police reported that she missed a babysitting appointment the following day and that her mother was unable to reach her on the phone.

Around 2:15 Sunday afternoon, hunters in a forested area close to the 1200 block of Washington Boulevard reported discovering a skull. When authorities arrived, they discovered additional remains nearby. It is unknown what caused the death or how it occurred.


Kaylene Oehling missing Case: Explained

The remains discovered over the weekend along Washington Boulevard in Pittsburgh have been recognized as those of a woman who has been missing since 2020, according to Allegheny County police.

She was meeting a man who was accused of mailing her naked images to her own family members after she vanished but who has not been prosecuted in connection with her disappearance.

According to Oehling’s family, all leads in the search for her have been dead ends. They think the inquiry into her disappearance was flawed from the beginning.

Her uncle Paul Young added, “She had a lot of individuals who were involved in her life that mourn her horribly. Twenty-year-old Kaylene Oehling of Etna vanished two years ago, and her family claims they still don’t have all the answers. To keep her case and memory alive, they staged another vigil on Sunday night.

According to her family, Kaylene vanished after meeting a man she was seeing. ‘By the time Etna police took it seriously, so much time had passed that we were missing video footage that we could have obtained off the street poles,’ said Young. ‘Off of businesses that she walked through that night when she went to see him.


Who is Michael Manno?

Michael Manno, a man who is more than twice Kaylene’s age, was her boyfriend. While Manno has not been charged with Kaylene’s disappearance, he has been charged with sending Kaylene’s sister and father pornographic images after she vanished.

Manno’s Criminal Record

On Manno’s record are past convictions for aggravated assault, statutory sexual assault, theft, auto theft, reckless endangerment, and corruption of children. According to Kaylene’s family, there have been numerous mistakes made during the inquiry, and two years later, they demand an explanation.

In March, Michael Manno will stand trial for sending Kaylene’s minor sister pornographic images. He entered a not-guilty plea. Ongoing Investigation

In a recent press statement, county police stated that Oehling’s last known contact with her family was a text message sent to her mother early on January 10, 2020.

“Later that morning, Oehling was required to arrive at her mother’s home to fulfill a babysitting commitment. Her mother was unable to speak with Oehling on the phone, and she never showed up.”

Detectives from the Allegheny County Police Department are looking into Oehling’s death and collaborating with the medical examiner to determine what exactly happened.

Jason Oehling told authorities that he and his family had found two bones in the same forested area where his daughter’s remains had been recovered the previous weekend, hours after he had responded to inquiries from Pittsburgh’s Action News 4.

Pittsburgh police and the Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office responded to the purported discovery. An update on the search conducted on Friday night, a Pittsburgh police officer told Pittsburgh’s Action News 4, would need to come from the Allegheny County Police Department.
