How did Viktoria Theresie Ljungman die?

Victoria’s death news was confirmed on the Virginian-Pilot’s Twitter page. HU published a statement saying,

“Hampton University is aware of the unfortunate accident that occurred today involving two of our students. The exact cause of the accident is under investigation. Out of respect for the students and their families we have no further comment at this time.”

In the Thursday afternoon collision, Viktoria Theresie Izabelle Ljungman, 23, of Williamsburg, died in the plane crash. The Swedish national had graduated from Hampton University, worked as a flight instructor, and most recently obtained her commercial license to fly. Ljungman is featured on the Hampton University women’s tennis team’s 2022 roster. She was majoring in flight education.

Oluwagbohunmi Ayomide Oyebode, an 18-year-old student pilot from Hanover, Maryland flies the plane.

In order to provide its Bachelor of Science in aviation students with the best education, Hampton University collaborates with the airport’s Rick Aviation Flight School. On the website of the aviation school, Ljungman is listed as a flight teacher. Oyebode and another Hampton student pilot in the plane were hurt in the incident but survived.

The inquiry has shown that Oyebode attempted to bring the plane up at an excessively sharp angle after takeoff, resulting in a flight crash.
