Terri Cain, his adored mother, confirmed his death on Friday in a post to social media that read:

“Yesterday was the worst day of my life. I lost a huge piece of my heart, my son. Travis, you will forever be my baby boy, who grew into an amazing, loving man!

I hope you can rest peacefully now. Forever my hero, forever my heart. Your mama loves you always!”

The Special Forces Foundation, meanwhile, expressed their sorrow over the death of another brother due to the aftereffects of war in a social media statement.

Sarah Cain, the sister of Travis Cain, updated her Facebook profile picture and conveyed her sorrow.
