Steven Raney Dies in Motorcycle Crash
The Clearwater County Sheriff’s Office received a complaint of a missing motorbike rider on Saturday, June 17, 2023.
A motorbike accident in Clearwater County over the weekend claimed the life of a guy from Clarkston. On Saturday, Steven Raney was the subject of an untimely motorcycle rider report, according to the Clearwater County Sheriff’s Office.
He was taking part in the ATV Fun Run along the Elk River. “Natasha Mael said that Steven Raney, her fiancé, was running late after riding an ATV in the Elk River ATV fun run.
Steven, according to Natasha, had purchased a new motorbike and used it to take part in the fun run. According to a news release,
“Natasha claimed Steven was an experienced rider, knew the region well, and was wearing a helmet during his ride.
How did the crash happen?
Raney’s whereabouts were investigated by CCSO Deputies and CCSO Search and Rescue teams. “CCSO SAR resumed its search into the early morning hours without finding anything.
Steven’s last known location was still being searched for at daylight by CCSO SAR. After being contacted, the search was joined by the Two Bear Air helicopter Service of Kalispell, Montana.
Due to bad weather in the region, Two Bear Air was unable to fly the prior night, according to a press release. Campers passing through the area on Morris Creek Road discovered Raney’s body.
The coroner and CCSO deputies were alerted and dispatched to the scene. They informed Steven’s fiance and family.
According to the news announcement, Steven was taken to Pine Hills Funeral Home while funeral preparations were being made. The investigation is still in progress, check back later for more updates on this story.
