Stephen J. Rogers, a missing snowbiker was found dead in Connecticut. His body was recovered near Rangeley Lake on Tuesday afternoon, says, Emily Maccabe, a spokesperson for the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife.

Wardens report that an accident on Rangeley Lake on Saturday night claimed the life of 43-year-old Stephen J. Rogers of Milford, Connecticut.

Rogers was using a loaner snowmobile while he was being fixed at Oquossic Marine. When Stephen Rogers failed to show up to collect his snowmobile on Tuesday, authorities declared him missing.

Disappearance of Stephen Rogers:

Stephen Rogers was reported missing by the Maine police yesterday. In the statement, Maine police reported that Stephen was missing and requested public assistance to find him.

It was reported that, Wardens say 43-year-old Stephen Rogers was last seen in the Oquossoc area, which is near Rangeley, on Saturday, February 18. He was on a loaner snowmobile from Oquossoc Marine.

Anyone who might have seen Rogers out on the trails over the weekend or earlier this week, or anyone who knows his whereabouts, is asked to call the Maine Warden Service at (207) 624-7076, said the statement.

Rogers took a snowmobile ride on Saturday night after 10:40 p.m., according to the Maine wildlife wardens.

On Tuesday, a property owner in Rangeley notified the Maine Warden Service that they had discovered broken snowmobile components along the shore.

The components matched the description of the snowmobile Rogers had borrowed. Marine Warden Service later confirmed Stephen’s body was found.

During a helicopter search, the snowmobile’s wreckage was discovered, and Rogers’ corpse was discovered in Russell Cove 142 feet from the shore.

According to an inquiry, Rogers was speeding when he collided with several trees near the shore.

Rogers was allegedly driving too fast on the lake when he hit several trees on the shoreline. Warden says that alcohol may be the cause of the crash.

  1. This article is horribly written. Steve was 43, from CT and died in Maine. The first paragraph is all sorts of wrong. Plus, it’s an extremely insensitive to Steve and his friend and family, to refer to him as a corpse. Steve was a really wonderful guy.
