Max Fullen, who had only turned 14 years old, tragically passed away on December 17, 2002.

It read,

“It is with our deepest sadness to inform you all that Max is a TRUE ANGEL in the outfield. As of 8:09 this morning, Max is playing baseball again, in the Streets of Gold. He is walking with Jesus & he is CANCER FREE! He’s no longer in pain. He is no longer in suffering. “

“Max Brayden Fullen, 14, of Petal, passed away Saturday, December 17, 2022 at his home.”

His City of Petal neighbors and friends are grieving his passing with heavy hearts.

Max Fullen Cause of death was a rare type of Brain Cancer.

On April 30, 2021, Max experienced a stroke at school and was taken to Forrest General Hospital right away.

After that, he was flown to Jackson’s Batson Children’s Hospital where he was in the ICU and severe condition due to brain swelling. Randy Fullen, Max’s father, claims that it was challenging to be at the hospital and to now know what was wrong.

Randy said,

“We just knew we had to figure out what we could and when we finally got the answer, it was definitely an answer we didn’t want to hear.” 

Max’s mom, Allyson Dodge said,

“We were just devastated. It was completely unexpected.”

Max was diagnosed by medical professionals as having diffused gliomatosis cerebri, a rare type of brain cancer without a proven cure. Before returning to Petal, he performed testing in hospital rooms for six weeks.

The journey of Max, who was diagnosed with a rare type of brain cancer, was chronicled by WDAM last year after he was discharged from the hospital.

The sad events that eventually resulted in his death happened throughout the entire weekend.

After Max was released from the hospital following treatment for a rare form of brain cancer, WDAM aired a program that described his battle with the disease over the year prior.
