Matt David Pobereyko, the legendary baseball player was pronounced dead on Saturday, February 25, 2023. Let’s see how did the beloved player die and Matt David Pobereyko cause of death in detail.

How did Matt David Pobereyko die?

Matt David Pobereyko who represented Mexico in the Caribbean Series passed away suddenly at the age of 31. Cottoneros de Guasave shared this sad news on social media saying,

“With the consternation and surprise that this sad news causes us, all the staff of the Club of Guasave Cotton Baseball comes together to raise prayers for the eternal rest of our partner Matt Pobereyko. Rest in peace King of Ponche!” 

Saraperos de Saltillo also confirmed the tragic news on a social media message shortly after it was confirmed.

The management, administrative staff, technical body, and players of Saraperos de Saltillo have expressed their sympathy for the Pobereyko family during this difficult time. 

The Guasave Algodoneros Baseball Club members have expressed their grief over the passing of the baseball player. The sudden passing of the legendary player left the baseball community in complete grief.

Who was Matt David Pobereyko?

Matt David Pobereyko was born on December 24, 1991, in Hammond, Indiana. He was the son of Paul and Karen Poberey. He has one brother Danny.

Matt attended Hammond, Indiana’s Bishop Noll Institute High School. In Owensboro, Kentucky, at Kentucky Wesleyan College, he finished his undergraduate studies.

He participated for Mexico in the 2023 Caribbean series early in the month of February, just a few short weeks before his tragic passing.

Matt had a very successful winter season. He was a dominant force on the mound for the Sioux City Explorers. He represented his team with class. Matt reportedly made the top pitching squats and ultimately rose to the position of punch king.

Career:

Matt Pobereyko started playing in various league teams after completing his college, including, Gateway Grizzlies, the Lake Erie Crushers, and the Evansville Otters. In 2015, he was quoted as the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Year.

He was a pitcher of Guasave cotton growers.  In 2016, Matt became a member of the Arizona Complex League Diamondbacks. He was the honoree of the first squad of the American Baseball Coaches Association’s Midwest Region. Matt was the first squad All-Midwest Region honoree for Daktronics.

He was a  four-time G-MAC Starter of the Week. He was named the most valuable Player of the selected squad with a 9-2 record. With a 1.84 ERA, he ranks second in the NCAA and No. 30 overall.

Matt David Pobereyko died from a heart attack. Many people are devastated by the news of his sudden passing.

“We are devastated and stunned by this sad news that every employee at Algodoneros de Guasave Baseball Club is united in praying for the everlasting remainder of our teammate Matt Pobereyko, who ceased to exist this morning.
