His animated series pilot, Welcome to Showside, which has received over a million views, is now in development. One of the illustrators who worked on the “What Do I Get?” short tale for the Young Men In Love anthology from the previous year was Ian McGinty.

Yesterday, McGinty passed away. He was 38. His mother issued a public announcement of McGinty’s passing but, did not mention the reason for his death.

Also, Ian’s family member stated that “our entire family is deeply grieving over the loss of our precious and amazingly talented Ian McGinty, my sister Laura’s son.

“It is with the deep sadness to share our tragic news. We lost our son, brother, and best friend yesterday. Ian McGinty was the kindest person to walk this earth, an extraordinary artist, and a lover of animals.

He will be deeply missed and will leave a hole in our hearts forever. Words cannot express how much this gentle soul meant to all of us.

We will always love you, Ian McGinty. May your gentle heart carry on in the lives of so many you have touched along the way.”


Who was Ian McGinty?

American comic book writer and artist Ian McGinty (born May 6, 1985) is most known for his work on the animated series Adventure Time, Bee and PuppyCat, and Invader Zim.

His creator-owned comic Welcome to Showside is what made him most famous. Welcome to Showside by McGinty, a creator-owned comic book series, to be animated by Z2 Comics and starring Henry Rollins, Amanda Kaufman, and McGinty as Kit, according to a 2015 announcement.

Ian gained notoriety among gamers all over the world thanks to his efforts in the board game Munchkin’s adaptation. His original rendition of the game enthralled players from all around the world, who enthusiastically accepted his version.

Ian McGinty was such a Sweet, very professional, and gifted artist who will be fondly remembered by so many. He was a professional artist & cartoonist  Ian took his final breath on June 8, 2023. Rest in peace, Ian. You will be missed but never forgotten.
