Gennaro Anthony “Tony” Sirico, a star of “The Sopranos,” passed away on Friday at the age of 79, his family informed Fox News Digital. Let’s see what happened, how did Tony Sirico die and what was his cause of death.

 

What happened to Tony Sirico?

It is with great sadness, but with incredible pride, love and a whole lot of fond memories, that the family of Gennaro Anthony “Tony” Sirico wishes to inform you of his death on the morning of July 8, 2022,” the statement began.

“The family is deeply grateful for the many expressions of love, prayer and condolences and requests that the public respect its privacy in this time of bereavement.”

 

How did Tony Sirico die?

The family of Sirico said that any donations will be given in Sirico’s honour to Wounded Warriors, St. Jude’s Hospital, and the Acton Institute.

Despite there is no official information on how and where did the actor die.

“Yes, a very devoted client of 25 years, he was an ex-army vet and contributed to numerous organisations, notably the wounded warriors,” said Bob McGowan, Sirico’s manager, in confirming the actor’s passing.

Michael Imperioli, who played Sirico on The Sopranos, made the first announcement of his passing in a touching Instagram tribute.

I regret to inform you that the great TONY SIRICO, my beloved friend, coworker, and partner in crime, passed away today “He wrote.

“Tony stood out from the crowd because he was as tough, devoted, and kindhearted as anybody I’ve ever known. I went through so much with him, both the good and the bad. but generally speaking, good.

We laughed a lot, he said further. As Christopher and Paulie, we got into a rhythm, and I’m glad to report that a lot of my greatest and most enjoyable work was done with my close friend Tony.

“I’ll always miss him. He cannot be replaced, genuinely. I send my love to his loved ones, close friends, and many fans. He was loved and will always be remembered. Today, heartbroken.

Despite the actor’s cause of death was not made public. However there are few speculations on twitter considering his advanced age  he might have died naturally. Yet there is no official information to back up this claim. Wednesday, his brother Robert Sirico will hold a memorial service at the Basilica of Regina Pacis in Brooklyn, New York.

He is survived by his two children, Richard Sirico and Joanne Sirico Bello, his grandkids, brothers, nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

American actor Tony Sirico was born on July 29, 1942, in New York City.

Sirico, who was born in Brooklyn’s Bensonhurst, has had 28 arrests during his life and has been imprisoned once.

 

Tony Sirico Career

Sirico is most remembered for his character of Paul “Paulie Walnuts” Gualtieri on “The Sopranos.”

Sirico featured in “Goodfellas,” “Lilyhammer,” “Mob Queen,” “Mighty Aphrodite,” “Love and Money,” and other films after getting released from jail and starting his acting career. On “Family Guy,” he also provided the dog Vinny’s voice.

The actor has engaged in other commercial endeavours. He launched his own perfume, Paolo Per Uomo, in 2008.
