The club released a statement on the passing of the young player, Mtolo, saying,
“It is with deep sadness to announce that Richards bay football club has untimely lost one of the midfielders, Siphamandla ‘Spepe’ Mtolo collapsed this morning during training.
The club is not in a position to provide further information at this stage and asks that his family’s privacy is respected in this difficult time of bereavement.
His presence both on and off the pitch will be sorely missed. thoughts and prayers of everyone in Richards bay football club are with his family, friends, and loved ones. A further statement will follow in due course.”
Who was Siphamandla Mtolo?
Siphamandla Mtolo was a defensive midfielder who has six appearances to his name for the 2022-23 season.
Mtolo participated in eight DStv Premiership games this season for the Natal Rich Boys and one Nedbank Cup game.
He spent some time with Uthongathi FC before joining Richards Bay in 2020, where he had an important part in the team’s advancement from the NFD by participating in 29 games.
