How did Mitch Keirsey die?

Mitch Keirsey, the band member of ‘The Texas Tenors’ passed away on April 24, 2023. The Texas Tenors announced this sad news on a social media post by releasing the following statement.

We lost a truly special man last night. It’s extremely hard to put into words how sad we are about the loss of our friend and brother, member of The Texas Tenors’ 3 Bottle Band Mitch Keirsey!

He joined Heaven’s band last night.. his smile, infectious laugh, and superb talent will be missed and forever cherished. Rest in peace, Mitch.

Who was Mitch Keirsey?

Mitch began performing as a teenager, joining bands throughout high school and college. Later, he formed his own rock bands and played six nights a week in bars and occasionally at concerts.

He played guitar, keys, drums, and bass, and sang in several local events after relocating to Branson, Missouri. He began his career playing a variety of performances and songs.

Mitch toured with artists like Bo Didley, Chubby Checker, Ray Price, and Roy Clark, to name a few, after serving as pianist, guitarist, and musical director for the Hee Haw show when it first opened a theatre in Branson. 

He enjoys passing on his knowledge of all facets of music to his students, whose ages have ranged from six to seventy, with whom he also teaches privately.

He aims to be a consummate professional in all of his musical endeavors because he has made his living playing music his entire life. 

Mitch performs live shows at the Top of the Rock, which is at the lovely Big Cedar Lodge outside of Branson, Missouri. 

His father was a veteran (U.S. Navy) of World War II. He was remembered as the kindest and most gentle soul and an amazing musician. 

Mitch Keirsey’s musical journey:

As lead singer and guitarist for Bill Haley’s Original Comets, he undertook a U.S. and European tour. He had his own recording studio where he produced a number of albums including albums for Merrill Osmond and Warner Curb Records, U.K.

Mitch has received endorsements from Michael Kelly and Fender musical instruments. He majored in music at Missouri State University and studied jazz with Stan Kenton, Pat Metheny, Jack DeJonette, and Dave Holland, according to his academic resume.

As a published ASCAP songwriter with songs available from Warner Brothers and other publishing houses, Mitch spent a significant amount of time writing songs in Nashville.

He has appeared in performances for programs like The Grand Old Opry, 60 Minutes, Good Morning America, Regis and Kathy Lee, the Jerry Lewis Labour Day Telethon, PBS Television, and RFD TV.

He also toured with The Texas Tenors, the winners of America’s Got Talent. For seven years, Mitch served as an instructor for guitar, bass, drums, keyboards, director, and singer at the School of Rock in Springfield, Missouri.

Mitch Keirsey’s cause of death:

The musician Mitch Keirsey was diagnosed with stage four lung cancer. He underwent surgery, radiation, and chemo and was in hospice care for a long time. Unfortunately, he lost his battle against cancer on April 24, 2023.

Mitch’s daughter Kayla confirmed his passing on social media, saying that he passed away peacefully last night around 8:30 pm. Funeral arrangements will be made by his family members in the near future.
