Her character
Her backstory was shortened in order to keep the movie moving forward, even though her character was initially intended to be Ray’s love interest.
At the Entertainment Effects Group, where Herrin’s sequences were shot, the cast and crew used optical effects to make Herrin disappear into the Fort Deterring set.
The crew had to put Vaseline all over Kymberly’s body in order to fit her into a mould created especially for her character because of the tight-fitting gossamer gown she was wearing.
The Dream Ghost
The Dream Ghost also referred to as the Fort Detmerring Ghost was the name of Herrin’s character.
She was the specter of a woman who had passed away 150 years prior.
Her movie co-star, Canadian actor Dan Aykroyd, shared more character information with Polygon last year.
1980s
In the 1980s, Herrin also had appearances in a few famous films, such as Ghostbusters and Romancing the Stone.
Dan Aykroyd, a Canadian actor, recalled the scene he filmed with Herrin for Polygon last year and said:
“Yes. I remember the woman who played that. Her name was Kym Herrin, and she was a Playboy Playmate. She played the ghost. Like, I wish they’d let that scene go a little longer.”
Donations
The family requested donations to the American Cancer Society in Herrin’s honour “to further the research of the prevention and treatment of breast cancer,” although the cause of death has not been disclosed.
