A short note on Acute myeloid leukemia (AML)
- Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) begins in the bone marrow, which is the soft interior of some bones and the site of new blood cell production, but it frequently spreads swiftly into the circulation as well.
- It can occasionally spread to the lymph nodes, liver, spleen, testicles, central nervous system (brain and spinal cord), and other organs of the body.
- AML most frequently arises in white blood cells (other than lymphocytes), however, it can also happen in other types of blood-forming cells.
- Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) Subtypes and Prognostic Factors cover the many AML subtypes.
- Acute granulocytic leukemia, acute myelogenous leukemia, acute myelocytic leukemia, and acute non-lymphocytic leukemia are only a few of the additional names for acute myeloid leukemia (AML).
