Who was Jovit Lasin Baldivino?
Jovit Lasin Baldivino was a Filipino singer and actor who died on December 9, 2022. He was the first winner of the reality talent competition show Pilipinas Got Talent in 2010.
Jovit Baldivino was born into an impoverished household in Batangas. He used to sell siomai at a market after school to sustain his education and aid his family. He joined the inaugural season of Pilipinas Got Talent to continue his studies and bring his family out of poverty. He claimed he hoped that winning the reward of 2 million pesos would make his dream come true.
Baldivino studied Criminology at Batangas State University. He wanted to be a lawyer just like his uncle. His daughter with ex-girlfriend Shara Chavez was born in July 2016. In October 2020, a pair of Jovit Baldivino’s hit singles “Pusong Bato” and “Ika’y Mahal Pa Rin” returned as they took over social media.
They were then mashed up with K-pop songs such as “Psycho”, “What Is Love?”, “Ice Cream”, and “Dynamite” by Red Velvet, TWICE, Blackpink, and BTS respectively. To add to the online craze, a remixed version of Justin Bieber’s “Baby” was uploaded, which combined it with Baldivino’s “Ika’y Mahal Pa Rin,” with the chorus taken from his song.
Filipino netizens were captivated by those remixes because, while the verses and choruses of Baldivino’s songs precisely fit the parts of the other songs, they were also highly funny because of how they were blended.
Jovit rose to prominence after winning the first season of ABS-Pilipinas CBN’s Got Talent, defeating finalists Baguio Metamorphosis and Velasco Brothers.
He was also noted for his YouTube cover of Journey’s “Faithfully,” which became the title of his debut studio album in 2010.
From 2011 to 2015, the award-winning musician published three more albums.
Jovit’s last public appearance was on November 28 for a celebrity episode of Family Feud.
Personal life

The revelation was corroborated by Chavez herself, who stated that the breakup occurred after she saw the singer with a girl she labeled on Facebook as “Homewrecker of the Year.”
Chavez’s move went viral online on June 10 when she released five images of Baldivino with another girl, claiming she caught him with her on a live video, however, Baldivino had since erased the footage.
While Baldivino has yet to comment on whether the female in the photo is also his girlfriend, Chavez has stated that she has decided to divorce him anyway.
The ex-couple has a son named Akeya, who was born in July 2016. There are no preparations for marriage between the two, though Chavez claims that Baldivino previously pledged to marry her.
