Joe Jarzynka, a former University of Washington football player has passed away. Let’s see how did the player die and Joe Jarzynka cause of death in detail.

How did Joe Jarzynka die?

Joe Jarzynka, a famous football player who gained a sizable fan base for his versatility and personality, was discovered dead on the banks of the Sol Duc River on Sunday while out fishing, according to officials.

The 45-year-old Jarzynka was a wide receiver, fullback, and special teams star for the Huskies from 1996 to 1999. He also served as the place-kicker for a season.

Deputies from the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office reacted to a call on Sunday morning after someone discovered Jarzynka’s body on a riverbank outside of Forks while he was wearing tan fishing gear.

They discovered a solitary pontoon boat stranded in a log jam a mile down the river. Authorities received confirmation from family members that he traveled in a boat that matched that description and had gone to the area to go fishing.

Who was Joe Jarzynka?

Jarzynka was the President of the Steelhead Companies, a Tacoma real estate investment company, according to his LinkedIn profile.

Jarzynka, a former walk-on from Gig Harbor who played in 30 games and started three, stunned everyone by returning a punt 91 yards for a score against California and making a 44-yard field goal against Washington State.

Football career:

Joe attended Gig Harbor High School and was the Pierce County League Champion as a senior, as well as second-team all-state.

From 1996 to 1998, Jarzynka played wide receiver for the Huskies and recovered onside kicks. He was well-known for his special teams’ performance. He became famous after playing for Huskies from 1996 to 1999.

Fans adored this player for his fearlessness on the field — he firmly refused to call for a fair catch on a punt — and long hair that flowed out the back of his helmet.

Husky fans even established a Jarzynka fan club. He was given a scholarship by Jim Lambright’s team as a third-year sophomore.

As a senior in 1998, he amassed 166 punt-return yards against Cal, including his go-ahead runback, and was named the Pac-10 Special Teams Player of the Year.

Jarzynka earned first-team All-Pac-10 recognition for his versatility during that same season. With kickoff returns of 50 yards against San Diego State, 43 yards against Notre Dame, and 38 yards against UCLA, he kept spectators on the edge of their seats.

Recently, he played for the Tacoma Stars reserves.

My favorite Joe Jarzynka memory was against Cal in 1998. He housed a kickoff return for a TD, shook the fence and then was reminded he had to kick the PAT which he made.
RIP Joe Jarzynka
