Joe E. Tata’s daughter shares her father’s painful health journey while he receives hospital care:

The rest of the world is familiar with my father, Joe E. Tata, from his portrayal of “Nat Busschio” in the well-liked adolescent drama “Beverly Hills, 90210” in the 1990s.

Surprisingly, he played the owner of the Peach Pit for the whole original series’ 10 seasons.

For the West Beverly High students, Nat served as a devoted father figure.

In reality, my father Joey is a wonderful, kind, and incredibly honest man.

After his final episode of “Mystery Girls” on ABC Family, my father’s health deteriorated. I moved in with him in 2014, essentially taking on the role of his full-time carer. Dad and I would face uncertainty together, as we had countless times before.

He received a final Alzheimer’s Disease diagnosis in 2018.

I was admitted to Cedars-Sanai shortly after his diagnosis despite my health issues.

My father unknowingly signed paperwork that placed him under a conservatorship while I was still healing.

He claims that he was forced into accepting this conservatorship. I never received the necessary notification of these agreements. The home my father and I shared was ordered to be sold by his conservator in 2019.

Since then, she has largely kept me in the dark about his family-related decisions. She even requires my consent before I can see him. Right now, I’m residing at my mother’s house in Palm Springs.

Even when my Dad’s conservator allows it, it is very impossible to visit him without a permanent home, a reliable income, or a car. I’m concerned about how I’ll reach him in an emergency.

As you can expect, the uncertainty has harmed both my Dad and me. His sickness has advanced to its last stages, and he is now 86 years old. He lives in fear and confusion all day long. He looks relieved and happy every time I’ve seen him, which isn’t often.

I agree that it’s crucial to coordinate his treatment. But keeping his daughter at a distance, especially at this time, is not in my father’s best interests. At the very least, he should feel at ease knowing I am by his side.
I should be involved in decisions regarding his comfort and daily care because I am the only blood family he has.

I realize this is a lot to process. Even now, I’m unsure of what I need first or most. I simply know that both he and I need my father.

To see him more frequently, I’d like to be able to rent a car. To be a reliable presence for my Dad, I’d like to find secure lodging a lot closer to him.

Also, to assist clear up any misunderstandings about the conservatorship and how it was carried out, I would want to employ a mediator.

On August 25, 2022 – she shares her father’s demise news

I’m devastated to report that my father Joe E. Tata passed away peacefully on August 24, 2022.

My father and I are forever grateful for the love and support of family, friends, and fans. I’m also especially grateful to Joanna Konjevod for caring for my father in his final years and allowing me to be there to hold his hand in his final moments.

The remaining funds raised from this campaign will be donated to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Please continue to keep us in your prayers as I grieve the loss of my best friend.

All my Love,

Kelly Katherine
