The Ohio State Department of Athletics has confirmed that “The Voice of the Shoe” Bob Kennedy passed away in his home on Saturday night. Let’s see how did Bob die and his cause of death in detail.
How did Bob Kennedy die?
Bob Kennedy was set to announce the OSU baseball game against the University of Illinois on Sunday afternoon.
When he failed to show up at the stadium, according to OSU officials, they contacted the neighborhood police to conduct a wellness check at his home. Soon after, Kennedy’s death at home was reported to OSU officials. He was 59.
Columbus sports fans have heard Kennedy’s voice boom out of the shoe’s speakers for the past 23 years.
“Bob had a big heart and he loved his Buckeyes,” said Jerry Emig, Associate Athletic Director for Communications.
“And, he loved his PA jobs. He was a true professional at his craft and a friend to us all. He knew the local media, our administrators, coaches, and student-athletes, and he certainly knew the histories well of many Ohio State sports, and he loved to talk about them.”, he added.
