The City of Decatur, Alabama grieves over the loss of former Mayor Lynn Fowler. Mayor Fowler devoted his life to the Lord, his family, and all things that would benefit our City.
I know many, myself included, were blessed by the way he influenced us to make a difference with our God-given abilities.
I heard Mayor Fowler say many times “It is not what you say, but how you say it. It is not what you do, but how you do it.” Rest in peace our friend.
Who was Lynn Fowler?
Mr. Fowlers served as chairman of the Morgan County Economic Development Association from 1983 to 2014 and as the former mayor of the City of Decatur.
He joined the EDA Board in 1978. Under Fowler’s direction, a partnership was established amongst all county municipalities to establish the Mallard-Fox Creek Industrial Park, which resulted in the addition of thousands of employees to Morgan County.
Fowler engaged in countless civic activities. He participated in activities with the Decatur Board of Education, Leadership Alabama, the Parks and Recreation Board, the Chamber of Commerce, Kiwanis, Rotary, the Planning Commission, and the Alabama Sheriff’s Youth Ranches.
(2014) During the annual conference luncheon of the North Alabama Industrial Development Association, an honor for dedication to and devotion to economic development was given to Lynn a previous mayor of Decatur.
The Michael D. Roberts North Alabama Excellence Award went to the board chairman of the Morgan County Economic Development Association, Lynn C. Fowler. Fowler is a Decatur resident who has served as MCEDA chairman for three decades.
