Escalator fall accident: On Sunday afternoon in Acrisure Stadium, a man died after falling from an escalator. WHAT HAPPENED AT ACRISURE STADIUM?

At Acrisure Stadium, a man died after falling off an escalator. According to Allegheny County dispatchers, the incident occurred after the Steelers game.

Pittsburgh Public Safety officials said the incident happened at 4:45 p.m., and paramedics provided the man with medical treatment on scene before he was transported to a local hospital in critical condition. He passed away soon after that.

WHAT DID THE POLICE HAVE TO SAY?

Pittsburgh Public Safety says that the victim later passed away from his injuries. Acrisure Stadium was the scene of “an awful event,” according to Steelers spokesman Burt Lauten. Mr. Lauten said that “We are cooperating with local authorities and helping with the investigation of the incident.”

The cause of the fall is currently under investigation, and the man has not yet been identified. The man’s identity and how he fell have not been disclosed by the City of Pittsburgh. VCU is undertaking an investigation while the Mobile Crime Unit processed the site.

Initial investigations also showed that spectators at the game claimed the dead was drunk.

Mark Fisher said, Not sure how one falls “from” an escalator if using it properly, but we’ll see what the report is.

Jeff Serventi said I did an assignment at Ross Park Mall back in August. It was years since I went down an escalator. It was scarier going down than going up. But I was sober doing it. Why do I have the feeling that…u-know-what?

He further added, When I went on the down escalator at Ross Park, for a millisecond I thought I was going to fall down the stairs. But I put my hands on both rails., said “shit” prayed not to fall, and just held on until I got to the bottom.

Joseph Meguire said I get antsy when I take escalators at stadia that go the equivalent of two or three floors. I make it a point to stand in the middle, well away from the edge and with a firm grasp of a handrail. This accident doesn’t help that phobia any.

Down Legard said Think they need to make escalators for Drunk people walls on each side or something. The same thing happened I believe at an Eagles game. Get drunk sit on the railing of the escalator thinking it’s fun and fall off. So sad and prayers to the family. Happens too often.

Ron Wetshel posted Not a joke, but these kinds of deaths and injuries tend to be a result of trying to ride down the handrail or otherwise circumvent the security measures in place. Still a tragic event, however.
