Beau Tudfts wrote: “I can’t right now. I just can’t. I never thought this day would come, at least not so soon. I heard all the sirens this morning and got a very bad feeling in the pit of my stomach. I knew it was bad; but little did I know all the sirens were for one of my very best friends- Eric Maddox. This man was like my brother; he was there for me for everything! Eric and Amy Jo got me through some tough times in the past couple of years and I will miss our random lunch dates together; our Wednesday supper and “chic flick” movie nights; and you just coming by my shop to give me a hug and to say, “I’m just checking on you sissy; I love you!”I’m not going to lie y’all, I’m angry right now; I’m hurt; I’m sad; and I’m just sick to my stomach! But, please, please, please… Pray for Eric Maddox wife Amy, their children, and grandchildren, Eric’s dad, and ALL his family and friends. We’re all going to need comfort and strength.Shane Bowman Angel Parker”
Kelsey Hajnal wrote: “Growing up with a first responder as your father, there’s few men in the department that you can honestly say they saw you grew up with. I always remember whenever I’d visit dad in the firehouse you’d stop, give me the biggest hug and say “how you doing little lady?”. You were a beaming light to the department always cracking a joke or putting a smile on someone’s face. You helped build the house I raise my family in. Bought flowers for me when my daughter was born and always complemented on how beautiful she was. Always asked how me, and my family doing when I bumped into you around town. I remember the last time I saw you, you shouted “y’all be good! I’ll be seeing y’all”. Gilmer fire lost one of the good ones. So thankful I got the privilege to call you a friend. I find comfort in knowing you’re walking with the angels. Rest easy Eric Maddox “
