How did Bishop Victor Ocampo die?

Victor Ocampo, the Bishop of the Diocese of Gumaca from the Philippines died at the age of 71.

CBCP ECBA announced this sad news on social media and the statement reads,

We have received the sad news. Our dear Bishop Victor Ocampo, Bishop of Gumaca and CBCP-ECBA Commission Member has passed away just before 6:00 PM today, March 16, 2023. May his soul rest peacefully in the loving arms of the Father.

Who was Victor Ocampo?

Bishop Victor C. Ocampo was born in Angles City on March 16, 1952. Bishop Ocampo attended San José Seminary in Quezon City to study philosophy and theology.

Following his priestly ordination in 1977 for Balanga Diocese he served in 8 parishes. He also worked as director of various diocesan offices such as the catechetical office, the liturgical commission, the Biblical apostolate, the family and life commission and was also the chancellor of the diocese and member of the consultors.

In the absence of the bishop, he served as the diocesan superintendent of the Balanga diocese. Bishop Buenaventura Famadico, who was moved to the Diocese of San Pablo in Laguna in 2013, will be his successor.

Victor Ocampo cause of death:

Bishop Victor passed away suddenly today afternoon from a heart attack at the age of 71. His followers have paid their tributes on social media.

The bishop was taken to a hospital in Gumaca, where he passed away at 5:58 p.m., according to Fr. Tony Ryan del Moro, the chancellor of the diocese.

His sudden demise has saddened everyone who knew him. Tributes flooded social media after the demise news of Bishop Victor broke out.
