BBC star Rachael Bland and his new wife Amy expecting twins, explained

Four years after BBC star Rachael Bland’s passing in 2018, her widower has announced he is expecting twins with his new wife. Let’s see Who Rachael Bland was and about BBC star Rachael Bland’s widower’s new life in detail.

Who Was Rachael Bland?

Rachael Rebecca Bland worked as a journalist and broadcaster for the British media. She was employed by BBC World News, BBC North West Tonight, and BBC Radio 5 Live.

Rachael Bland was a British journalist and presenter from Cardiff, and notably worked for the BBC.

She was well-known for the podcast You, Me and the Big C, which she hosted while she was battling breast cancer and in which she talked about the disease’s problems and treatments.

For Freddie, a book she wrote in the months before she passed away, was released early the year after her passing.

How did BBC star Rachael Bland’s Widower and his new wife met?

At a cancer conference in Manchester in 2019, Steve, 41, met Amy, an advanced nurse practitioner, and they got married in August.

Before he met Amy, Steve started hosting the You, Me, and the Big C podcast with Lauren Mahon and Deborah James after Rachael’s untimely death in 2018.

Expecting Twins

To share their baby’s joy with the world, Steve and Amy announced their recent news of expecting twins on Instagram.

Amy posted a picture of her growing baby bulge and Freddie, Steve and Rachael’s son, on social media.

It read,

“Team VB is getting not one, but two new recruits next year. Twins arriving in spring, all being well.”

In the endearing photo, Freddie, Amy’s stepson, can be seen grinning ear to ear while pointing to Amy’s growing bump in front of the Christmas tree.

Proposal

Steve informed his 14,600 Instagram followers that he got engaged in December of last year.

The Cheshire-based 41-year-old shared several sentimental images on social media that showcase his glittering engagement ring with his new fiancée Amy.

He simply wrote the remark,

“She said yes!”

Steve, who has a seven-year-old kid named Freddie with his late wife, and an NHS nurse were on a romantic trip in Copenhagen when the proposal arrived.

Big Day

Just one year after the couple’s joyful pregnancy news was revealed in December of last year, they announced their engagement.

The couple didn’t waste any time getting hitched; they wed in a grandiose ceremony in Cheshire in August, only a few months after falling in love.

At the moment, delighted father Steve disclosed that on his special day, son Freddie served as best man.

He penned,

“What. A. Day. Our wedding day literally could not have been more perfect.”

“All our favourite people in one place, so many smiles, so much laughter, loads of dancing and memories made, and a little too much kraken.

I’ve got a lot of people to thank, chief among them my best men Freddie.”

Steve about his New Wife

We must break taboos and give up the fear of judgment. To be content and make the most of life is what we strive for.

Speaking to the Daily Mail in 2020 about finding his new girlfriend Amy, he said:

We took our time but, of course, my life revolves around Freddie, so it’s hard to get to know someone properly without including them in their life as well.’

“Going out in the evening is a military operation for a single parent, organizing babysitters, my parents are a great help, taking care of Freddie when I go to London on business, but I don’t want to wear them too much, so Amy comes to us mostly.”

‘Rachael wanted him to find “Love” Again’

After Rachael tragically passed away from breast cancer in 2018, widower Steve has already spoken out about his refusal to feel guilty about finding love again.

Steve said that Racheal wanted him to find happiness again – for both him and Freddie.

Earlier this year, Steve claimed that Racheal wanted him to find happiness once more for Freddie and himself during an interview on Lorraine.

“It’s one of the most common questions I get asked: ‘Do I feel guilty? ‘Why should I? I’m 40-years-old and I’ve got the rest of my life ahead of me.

“Rachael wanted me to be happy and wanted Freddie to be happy.

“We need to break down the taboo and stop worrying about being judged for it. We’re trying to be happy and to make the most of life.”
