Roy Tremble, a former member of the Cathedrals Quartet has passed away. Let’s see how did the Former Cathedral Quartet Tenor Vocalist Roy die and his cause of death in detail.
How did Roy Tremble die?
Roy Tremble, a well-known gospel artist passed away suddenly. One of his team members, Bryan, stated this sad news on social media in the following statement, which reads,
“Where do I start? I got the call at 7:30 am that one of my heroes, one of my dear friends; Roy Tremble passed away this morning.
I loved Roy Wayne and George Amon Webster.
When I joined “The Heartland Quartet”, Those two legends took me under their wings, and along with Brent Fredricks, they taught this young kid how to conduct myself on a platform and continued loving me even after we stopped singing together.
I was able to visit with him and Carolyn this past Sunday. We laughed, told stories, and I was able to pray with them before I left.
I loved hearing Roy sing, especially “Alas, and did my Savior bleed..” The first time I heard him sing that, I said “THAT is quite possibly the most beautiful thing that I had ever heard.”
I’m heartbroken. But I know that Roy is not struggling anymore. All the years that he spent singing about Jesus, he is RIGHT NOW, seeing Jesus and all the splendors of Heaven. What a reunion!
Please remember Miss Carolyn Tremble and Roy’s family in your prayers.”
Who was Roy Tremble?
Roy was one of the great tenor singers who sang in the Cathedral Quartet in the 1970s. He was a member of the Cathedral Quartet, which is often known as the Cathedrals.
The group that many regards as the best representation of Southern Gospel quartet singing ever toured the country and the world.
Cathedral Quartet was a southern gospel group from the United States that performed from 1964 to December 1999.
In addition to a lengthy solo ministry, Roy also worked with the Weatherfords, The Jubilee Quartet, and later with The Heartland Quartet.
Tremble is most famous for his time as the baritone/ tenor for The Cathedral Quartet in the 1970s. Roy got into the Cathedral Quartet in 1971 and left in 1979 to form the Brothers Trio with George Amon Webster and Lorne Matthews.
Bobby Clark briefly rejoined the Cathedrals in 1973 and convinced them to promote Roy Tremble from baritone to tenor.
By 1974, the Cathedrals’ lineup included baritone George Amon Webster, tenor Roy Tremble, piano player Haskel Cooley, and singers George Younce and Glen Payne who served as the quartet’s bass and lead respectively.
Roy has always desired to sing gospel music ever since he first heard Rozie Rozell perform “Oh What A Saviour” long before his Cathedral days. In 1965, he enrolled at the Stamps School of Gospel Music, where he won a talent competition.
Roy Tremble cause of death:
Roy Tremble passed away suddenly. His son, Robby Tremble posted this sad news in the following social media statement.
“Today, the Gospel Music world lost a legend and my dad is finally home with his Heavenly Father. My dad was one of the sweetest souls and had one of the greatest voices you will have ever heard. If you don’t believe that… he had 3 Grammy nominations to prove it. Dad, like all of us, went through some really rough patches but for the last 30 years, he used that in his ministry to try and help heal the hurting by telling them about Jesus and the forgiveness and mercy he had found himself.
I am beyond grateful to his wife Carolyn Tremble for the wonderful love you shared with Dad. So many times when I talked to him, he would say how grateful he was for you. For how happy you made him, I will always love you, Carolyn. Dad, you have earned your rest. Say hi to all of my grandparents for me. Today, I take comfort in knowing that I will see you again. I love you, Dad!!”
However, Roy’s cause of death was not revealed yet. Tributes flooded social media after his sudden demise news broke out.
