Andre Clanton, a 37-year-old Davenport resident, was killed in the first degree by Deshawn Washington, a Rock Island resident.
In the early hours of May 21, the Davenport Police Department announced the arrest of a 25-year-old man they believe killed another man in the 1300 block of Judson Street.
In connection with the event, Washington is also accused of being a felon in possession of a handgun. Just before 5 a.m. on Sunday, there were reports of gunshots being fired, and officers went to the scene. When they arrived, authorities discovered Clanton suffering from a gunshot wound.
