For his part, the Governor of Puerto Rico, Pedro Pierluisi, affirmed that Malaret “will always hold a special place in the hearts of all Puerto Ricans.” “Her name and her achievements will remain engraved in our history,” said the governor, who expressed his condolences to Malaret’s husband, Frank Cué, and their daughter Sasha.

Marisol’s Life story
The respect and affection for Marisol would grow as more people learned about her difficult past. The National Foundation for Popular Culture’s biography of Malaret states that “the death of her parents when she was still a kid, drove her to work from a very young age to help support her brother and her aunt, Mrs. Esther Contreras.
This would shape her personality and the way she approached her profession with discipline, determination, and effort. She had only turned eight years old when her parents died. From that point forward, her aunt was responsible for raising Marisol and her brother, Jess Antonio.
Education
Marisol completed her elementary studies at the La Merced school and later graduated from the Gabriela Mistral High School. While she lived with her aunt Esther, she did different kinds of jobs. She worked cleaning houses and windows, among other things.
Sometime later, he entered the University of Puerto Rico, where he completed an associate degree in secretarial sciences. She then began working as an executive secretary at the International Telephone and Telegraph Company (ITT), a company that later became Telefónica de Puerto Rico.
Miss Puerto Rico beauty pageant
In this company, some of her colleagues encouraged her to compete in the Miss Puerto Rico beauty pageant, which she won, obtaining a pass for Miss Universe.
For this competition, Malaret competed for the benefit of the Society of Crippled Children and Adults of the Country. The expenses to attend the contest were covered by the ITT. But a few days before the contest was held, the applicant lost all her trousseau in the floods that affected Puerto Nuevo in 1970.
However, the model Ivonne Coll ensured Malaret’s participation by lending her the costumes that she later used to compete in Miss Universe. At the age of 20, Malaret became the first Puerto Rican Miss Universe on July 23, 1970, competing against 69 other candidates.
His reception in Puerto Rico was a tremendous event. Her people cheered her from the moment she arrived at the airport until she entered La Fortaleza to be received by the then-governor, Luis A. Ferré.
Marisol Malaret as a television host
Once her commitments with the Miss Universe organization were over, Marisol Malaret forged a career as a television host, remembering her time on the “Gala Night” program with Eddie Miró.
She also hosted game shows. She dabbled in radio as the moderator of a program along with Carmen Jovet and Milly Cangiano. At the same time, Malaret ventured into the business world by establishing the successful boutique La Femme with actress Gladys Aguayo.
His interest in the media went one step further when, in the mid-1980s, he joined businessman Manny Casiano to direct Imagen de Puerto Rico magazine, which for years had marked success in circulation and sales.
In 1990 he went on to direct the Caras de Puerto Rico magazine. By the mid-2000s, he re-entered the business world with the luxury furniture store En Casa.
Tributes poured in for the eternal queen Marisol Malaret

There are many memories that come to my mind of great figures of Puerto Rican and international TV who we received in our program Pleasant memories of trips to different parts of the United States and the Caribbean to produce a gala show that reached the homes of Puerto Ricans both here on our island and in states of the nation such as Chicago and New York, among others.
Marisol was part of our family and was instrumental in the process of growth and development of my daughters, especially in their teenage years, where she served as an example and model for them.
It was she who was entrusted with the details of Dana’s wedding, Christie’s pregnancy, and birth. She was my friend, my support, and on many occasions a cloth of tears both for Ita, Ita Medina, and me. Today I ask God to give a lot of strength to her daughter Sasha, her husband Frank Cué, and granddaughter Luna.
