Bill Kelly wrote,
“To Tere and James’ family I send my deepest sympathies. RIP James “Owl” Walsh. The singer, songwriter, keyboards and producer with Gypsy, The Underbeats. The James Walsh Gypsy Band and many collaborations with other bands most recently The Midas Touch and other musicians has died. This Minnesota music legend produced and performed some of the best music ever created. Gypsy music is hard to describe because it features different genres and mixes it into some of the very best progressive rock. James was a big part of this for keeping it going for over 50 years. The music world lost one of it’s unique characters and for me on a personal note a very warm and loving friend. James has been a friend of mine for almost 20 years now. I am very fortunate to have been able to help James and the band members setup for the live shows in recent years. I felt honored to be a part of the Gypsy family and the music legacy that James and the others built. James I will miss you greatly. Your memory will live with me forever. Gypsy forever. James Walsh forever.”
Carole wrote,
“We lost a great man today..James Walsh. Rest in Peace Front man of the great band Gypsy.”
